Had a very enjoyable round at Villamor GC in late Jan’ 12. We had very good and knowledgable caddies who were an asset during the round – in fact without them we would not have known where to go and where the 1st & 10th tees are. Reckon they could make the visitors much more welcome – left you with the impression that we were just another couple of golfers (which I guess we were). Clubhouse locker facilities not too bad but not a stand out. Villamor golf card had a couple of unique attributes (maybe other golf courses have them but its the first time I have seen them) – First, Pin Placements for every hole for every day of the week; and Second,”pace of play” guide as to how long it should take to complete a hole. The most disappointing part of the day was that the greens had been cored the week before (luck of the draw). Other than the greens (I am sure they would be great in 2 weeks time) the course was pleasant enough and in good condition. Some unique water fairway water hazards and the short 8th (par 3) has some unique attributes with an old style looking moat surounding the green. I reckon they could probably make visiting guests a bit more welcome and the post round restaurant/bar experience and service is fairly underwhelming. Probably not the best value golf game in the Philippines but due to the traffic in Manilla you can’t beat the location. For some its not important but they could definately do a much better job in self promotion – for those interested in buying a rememberance cap or ball marker, etc you can easily walk past the tiny retail shop. Maybe a visitors information sheet could be handed out by the cashier.

Finally, just an independant assessment of Golfph – becoming a member probably gets you about an approx 10%-20% discount so its worthwhile going to the trouble of getting the card (but due to the traffic in Makiti its still a pain to pick up the membership card). IMO they could probably still work even closer with the golfer and the golf club as a go between for the uninitiated golfer in Philippines to ensure the experience is even better. But overall they provide a needed service that I appreciated – thanks to Ayse and the team at Golfph.

Forgot to mention that you have to have a good caddie to enjoy your round.
There are a handful who are just after your money and tip. Unfortunate… but true.

Good long course. If you want to practice your long game, this is the (public) course that you’re looking for. Layout is pretty flat. I dont recommend playing this course to anyone during rainy season. The course is NOT all weather. A mud-pit assome would put it.

I would have to agree with Marcus. There was a few questionable holes, but overall I had a good experience. Compared to the two other public courses I played at (army, navy) this would have to be the toughest. I gave it one extra star because it is a public course. I would definitely come back.

The course is very playable, with challenging length and well maintained hazards. As a person turning up to the course for the first time there was no guidance as to where to go and what the process/ protocol was. Felt uncomfortable. Caddies were good and apart from the tourist levy, was good value for money especially with its proximity to Makati.
