USEC Commemorates 4th of July with “Fore”works

The United States Embassy Club (USEC) celebrated the U.S. Independence Day in special fashion with The 8th Annual 4th of July U.S. Independence Day Charity Golf Tournament last July 4. Held at The Orchard Golf & Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite, the tournament was aimed at raising funds for the USEC’s local charities and scholarships.

The festivities kicked off with Steve Kisling, U.S. Embassy Golf Club President, discussing the tournament rules and regulations. This was followed by the ceremonial tee-offs of celebrity actor, Cesar Montano, who crushed his drive down the middle, and Kisling who likewise split the fairway with his shot.

Then came the starting horn to signal the shotgun start for the rest of the golfers. Playing under the fun 2-man scramble format in the challenging Palmer course, the golfers enjoyed the camaraderie among flight-mates while trying to navigate through each tricky hole.

Perhaps just as enjoyable as the round itself was the buffet feast prepared by the USEC for all their guests which featured a fusion of American, European and Asian cuisine with unlimited Heinekens to wash them down.

A major highlight of the event was the presence of U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Y. Kim, who welcomed all the participants during the luncheon, prompting a lot of photo opportunities with eager golfers. And just as it is for every tournament, the highest point came when the tournament winners were announced.

All in all, there were 3 tournament awards and 2 fun hole awards given out to these fine golfers:

2-man Scramble Competition
Champion: Jorge Lee & Steven Kisling
Runner-Up: Kuo-Wei Su & Jin Hoon Roh
3rd Place: Herbert Magsino & Justin Magsino

Winners of the Fun Holes:
Longest Drive – Kevin Su, 258 yards off the tee (Palmer Hole #11)
Nearest to the Pin – Diana Kurangil, 13 ft. to the pin (Palmer Hole #5)

Of course there were also exciting raffle prizes that were given out to lucky winners who were all thrilled with the different types of treats they received.

The entire celebration came to a fitting end led by U.S. Embassy Club President Samuel Scott Jackson, bringing the curtains down on this year’s action and fun-packed 4th of July celebration.

The USEC would like to thank all the generous sponsors and donors that made this whole event possible. Here’s looking at next year’s fireworks!!
