12-Year Old Lagman Brings Home the Gazmin Cup

12-year old John Lester Lagman proved that age never matters in golf as he bagged the overall championship trophy away from more experienced golfers in the recently held Secretary of Defense Golf Cup at the Veterans Golf Club in Quezon City last weekend.

Lagman was the youngest player in the tournament sponsored by National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin. However, this did not stop him from winning not only championship but also got the Longest Drive Award in the said cup.

The young lad who is a nephew of sportsman Mikee Lagman Romero and the son of former Department of Transportation and Communications Action Center head JonJon Lagman is also the reigning 2-time Echiverri Golf overall champion.

Just recently, Lagman was able to win the bronze medal in the 10th Sutera Harbour Junior Amateur Open 2011 which was held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. In January 2012, he will again compete in the Philippine International Jungolf Tournament that will be staged in Manila.

The Scottish Junior Golf Tournament, the Junior World Qualifying Tour and the US Kids Qualifying Tour are among the other tournaments in which Lagman will participate in the first half of 2012.
