A relatively short course with 7 Par 3's, South Forbes will still give golfers a challenging game. Holes with up and down sloping greens, water hazards, and tight fairways will require accurate shots to complete under Par. 

Facilities
Practice your swing in the driving range and purchase some golfing supplies from the pro shop, before swinging into action on the fairway. Tee houses are located along the fairway for your convenience. After your game, freshen up in the male or female locker rooms with sauna and shower facilities. A bar, dining and lounge areas are ready to serve you food and drinks. Function rooms are available for use upon reservation.

South Forbes: An Introduction And My First Impression

Only an hour’s drive south of Makati City lies one of the most challenging precision golf courses in the Philippines—the South Forbes Golf Club. Another amazing thing is how they have turned the land around this golf course into a beautiful residential area.

Those who love playing golf end enjoying the cool and serene countryside would definitely benefit from buying property here. Purchase one of the villas or mansions within South Forbes City and you will automatically become a member of the golf course—for free.

But for those of us who have yet to own one of these houses, we can still play a good game of golf as the course is also open to the public.

This 18-hole par 67 golf course was designed by world renowned course designer Brit Stenson in cooperation with the International Management Group. The South Forbes Golf Club only opened last May 7, 2006. And it is one of the most modern in terms of design and quality. They even used sea isle supreme hybrid grass.

It’s no wonder that this golf course hosts dozens of local and international golf tournaments each year, especially during January and February.

With these positive things in mind, I drove to Cavite in order to try playing there for myself. I had no trouble finding the golf course due to the large ‘Forbes Golf City’ sign along the South Super Highway.  And when I got there I was glad to see that the place looked even more beautiful than it did in photographs.

My friends told me that this was a short golf course, and they were right. The South Forbes Golf Course was only half the size of the other courses I was used to playing in. Nevertheless, the size of the course did not change the fact that you need a golf cart in order to play here since the course is filled with steep slopes and crevices. The good thing is that there were plenty of EZ Golf Carts available for rent.

Another thing I really love about the South Forbes Golf Course is how each and every hole is different. You might think that playing through so many par 3 holes may get monotonous, but playing here is anything but boring. Each hole is a new breathtaking challenge. And I’m not just talking about the beautiful scenery.

The sun works wonders on the features of this course. Play during the sunrise or sunset and you will see what I mean. And if I were to pick the most beautiful hole in the course, it would be the 9th with the view of the lovely Mt. Makiling in the backdrop.

But while this golf course is pretty, it’s no walk in the park, especially for amateur golfers. Indeed, this is one course that will test your mastery over all the clubs in your golf bag. Precision is definitely the key to scoring under par in South Forbes. This course is one of the best places to put your superior golfing skills to the test. And make sure you bring an extra dozen golf balls, just in case…

The third hole is one of the most challenging in South Forbes. In this par 4 you will have to shoot the ball over a deep ravine. Long hitters might be tempted to go straight for the green of this 295-yard hole. But beware! Your ball will more likely roll back into the ravine than hold ground on the highly angled slope it lands on.

You will also find yourself navigating over and around numerous water hazards such as the stream in the second hole and the huge lake in the fourth. And to cap it all off, you will need to shoot down a tall several story cliff from the tee of the 18th hole.  Now that hole was just unforgettable.

I have played in plenty public and private golf courses around the country. And if you ask me, I would say that South Forbes is one of the most unique and challenging. You haven’t played golf in the Philippines until you’ve played at South Forbes.
